How You Can Help
The low-cost services provided by the MS Achievement Center are made possible in part by the generosity of our community.
Click here to give online through Mercy Foundation. By selecting the MS Achievement Center from the designation drop down, your gift supports critical emotional and physical wellness programs for those living with multiple sclerosis.
If you would prefer to give by phone or check, please call 916.851.2011.
Upon admittance to the program, each person's specific needs are identified by MS Achievement Center staff and progress is monitored on an ongoing basis. Three days a week, participants attend various activities and programs designed to maximize different aspects of their well-being, including:
Customized fitness programs with our expert staff help members improve or maintain functional abilities and mobility.
Through support groups and emotional health interventions, members learn to reduce stress and improve their emotional status.
Members participate in recreational activities designed to enhance mental acuity.
Experts share information about disease management, symptom management, nutrition and general health practices to help members make optimal lifestyle and health decisions in conjunction with their personal physicians.
The MS Achievement Center operates on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Core activities run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. However, doors open at 8:30 a.m. and close at 4:30 p.m., allowing individuals to arrive early or stay late for elective activities.
The MS Achievement Center is open to anyone who has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. For admittance into the program, participants must:
- Be able to attend a five-hour block of activities one day per week
- Make arrangements for transportation to and from the Center
Individuals can self-refer. MS Achievement Center staff will work with the participant's physician to keep them apprised of progress toward specific goals. Primary care physicians or other specialists can also refer.
There is no mandatory end date to a person's participation in the program and insurance is not billed. Payment is on a sliding scale.
