The well-being of residents is essential to promote longevity and success throughout the year. The Resident Wellness Mentorship Program is designed to partner each resident with a mentor for the year. All Pharmacists have the option to participate. Residents will be provided a list of available mentors to choose from during orientation and spend the first 4 to 6 weeks of the program getting to know the mentors prior to submitting their mentor of choice. There will be one resident per mentor. The mentor will serve as an additional member of the team to support the resident throughout the year, whether that form of support is work or wellness-related. Residents have the flexibility to meet with their mentor based on each resident’s needs and there are no specific requirements or evaluations associated allowing for a zero-obligation and stress-free interaction!
Every quarter, our residents plan a social event allowing for an opportunity to de-stress and interact with their colleagues in a more casual setting. Residents have full control over what type of event they would like to plan (happy hour is always a favorite) and attendance is not required. Aside from SJHMC pharmacy residents, events may also include, but are not limited to, preceptors, pharmacy staff members, medical staff, and residents/preceptors from other hospitals in the valley. Additional pharmacy socials may occur throughout the year when planned by our preceptors on special occasions!
Each year our residents meet up with pharmacy residents from other residency programs in the valley at a local Spring Training game. This gives our residents a chance to connect with and network with their fellow co-residents and preceptors from other facilities.
