The Pharmacy Department at SJHMC provides 24-hour services which are supported by over 100 pharmacy personnel and state of the art technology utilization. Pharmacy technology and automation at SJHMC includes the use of Cerner EHR, Omnicell automated dispensing cabinets throughout the hospital, four Carousel systems to manage perpetual pharmacy inventory, and Pandora data analytics software. Decentralized clinical pharmacists are located in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Barrow Neurological Institute patient tower, inpatient and outpatient clinic Transplant Services, Cardiology Services, the Emergency Department, Oncology/Medical Services, Family Medicine, and the Adult Medical Intensive Care Unit. Clinical pharmacy services include pharmacokinetics, anticoagulation management, antimicrobial stewardship, committee participation, medication use evaluation, clinical pathway/medication guideline development, formulary management, staff development and teaching rounds. There is also an outpatient pharmacy that provides services for a wide range of patients as well as a discharge prescription planning and counseling service.
