Volunteering at St. John's
The Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at St. John’s Regional Medical Center offers individualized exercise and educational programs for people who have had a recent heart attack, heart surgery, or have experienced other cardiovascular incidents.
Our Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is conveniently located at St. John’s in Oxnard. The new facility features a full-spectrum of equipment, overlooking the beautiful view of St. John’s Healing Garden. Our goal is to increase our patients’ fitness level and encourage lifestyle adjustments to control ongoing risk factors for heart disease. Our program is a safe way to help you feel better faster, get stronger, manage stress, reduce the risk of future heart problems, and promote an understanding of heart disease.
Our team works with the referring doctor to evaluate each patient’s needs, establish goals, and coordinate an effective heart health treatment program, including:
Patients typically visit three times per week, each visit lasting approximately one hour, for three to four months.
After completion of our program, patients may use our maintenance program for continuation of supervised exercise aimed at maintaining consistent, healthy lifestyle habits. This service is available two to three times a week for a nominal fee.
The Heart Fitness Program consists of three phases. Phase one involves inpatient teaching designed to minimize risk factors for heart disease and to increase heart health. Phase two is an outpatient program that entails close monitoring, education, and exercise. Phase three is an ongoing outpatient treatment plan where patients benefit from continued exercise at St. John’s for years to come.
Ask your doctor if our cardiac rehabilitation program is right for you. To access our services, you need a referral from your doctor. Most insurance plans cover cardiac rehabilitation, though insurance coverage may vary according to diagnosis and benefits. This will be reviewed prior to service.
