Even minor adjustments in your diet can improve your heart health and reduce your risk for cardiovascular disease.
Heart healthy foods include whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, lean cuts of meat, low-fat dairy and monounsaturated fats like olive oil, canola oil and peanut oil.
Foods that should be limited or eliminated include saturated fats like those found in red meat and high fat dairy products; trans fats found in fried foods and commercial baked products; cholesterol-heavy foods like egg yolks and whole milk; and refined or process grains.
