Dignity Health Sacramento’s high-tech robots allow our da Vinci surgeons to operate with extreme precision and control.
“Seymor”: Mercy San Juan Medical Center
Seymor got his name from a local elementary school student who won the hospital's special naming contest. In providing surgeons with 3-D images of a patient's organs, da Vinci® systems offer a far better view of the treatment area than the naked eye. Seymor can literally "see more" than a human.
“LISA”: Methodist Hospital of Sacramento
LISA, short for “Less Invasive Surgical Application,” got her name from a Methodist Hospital of Sacramento sterile processing technician who won a facility-wide contest to name the operating room’s newest advancement.
Seymor and LISA are two of five high definition da Vinci® Surgical Systems across Dignity Health's Sacramento hospitals. Mercy San Juan Medical Center has two; Mercy General Hospital, Mercy Hospital of Folsom, and Methodist Hospital of Sacramento each have one.
Our da Vinci robots make a significant difference with delicate surgeries that focus on very detailed areas. They are especially effective for treating prostate cancer. For gynecologic surgeries, the precise dissections made possible with the robots can lead to a more complete cancer surgery and more accurate cancer staging.
Our specially trained surgeons work with the robots to perform a wide range of minimally invasive procedures, with specialties including:
