Shawki Saad MD Named President of Medical Staff

Shawki Saad, MD, Vascular Surgeon, is the newly elected President of the Medical Staff of Dignity Health - Northridge Hospital, a 424-bed, nonprofit acute care hospital in the San Fernando Valley.

Board certified in General Surgery and Vascular Surgery, Dr. Saad began his private practice and joined the Northridge Hospital Medical Staff in 1989. He holds a certification in Advanced Trauma Life Support and has been Northridge Hospital’s Medical Director of Trauma Services since 1994. He’s also served as chairman of the department of surgery and continues to be a member of several medical staff committees.

In addition to being a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, he is also a member of the Southern California Vascular Surgical Society, American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, and Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma.

Dr. Saad has received numerous awards from local community groups, including the Northridge Chamber of Commerce and local city government, as well as from the U.S. Senate and the White House. What’s more, he’s been featured on television for his life-saving work on more than one occasion. 

Dr. Saad met his sweetheart, Teresita Napal, MD, at Northridge Hospital. They married in 1994 and have 2 beautiful daughters, Christina and Chantelle, who are currently attending college. Dearly loved by his patients, Dr. Shawki Saad is keenly devoted to the advancement of patients’ lives and the progress of health care at the Northridge Hospital community.

As President of the Medical Staff he is charged with the enforcement of the medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations and will serve as Chair of the Medical Executive Committee.
