Learn how to perform “Hands-Only CPR”

If you need to perform CPR in an emergency, you will most likely be trying to save the life of someone you love. The statistics:

  • 80% of out-of hospital cardiac arrests happening in private or residential settings
  • Only 41 percent of people who experience an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest get the immediate help that they need before professional help arrives.

The good news is that Hands-Only CPR has been shown to be as effective as conventional CPR for sudden cardiac arrest at home, at work or in public and can double or event triple a person’s chance of survival.

It only takes 60-seconds to learn how to save a life.  Watch the Hands-Only instructional video and share it with the important people in your life.

Heart attack warning signs

Many people think a heart attack is sudden and intense, like a "movie" heart attack, where a person clutches his or her chest and falls over. It can be very different, and symptoms can vary for men and women. Learn More about signs and symptoms of a heart attack. If you are experiencing any of the heart attack symptoms described, don't delay! Call 911 immediately.

Advanced heart procedures

Aortic heart valve replacement with TAVR

The Northridge Hospital Cardiovascular Center is one of the select providers in the country to offer patients a minimally invasive procedure for heart valve replacement. Called Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR), the procedure allows for valve replacement without opening a patient’s chest.

WATCHMAN™ alternative to blood thinners for those with non-valvular AFib

Northridge Hospital is pleased to be the first provider in the San Fernando Valley to offer patients WATCHMAN™, a one-time, minimally-invasive procedure for those with non-valvular AFib who need an alternative to taking blood thinners. The procedure allows the placement of the WATCHMAN device (implant) into a patient’s heart to permanently reduce the risk from blood clots forming in the heart which could lead to a stroke.
