You are having a baby! Whether it’s your first baby or you are an experienced mother, we can offer you the “personal touch” through our new Welcome Baby program.
Welcome Baby is a free service for all women who give birth at Northridge Hospital regardless of income level or risk factors. Every mother receives a postpartum hospital visit, including a maternal/newborn screening, breastfeeding support and home visits until the baby is 9 months old.
Our goal is to maximize the health, safety and security of the baby, while strengthening the parent-child relationship. Parents are offered support, information and resources on issues such as pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, parenting, early childhood development, basic healthcare, nutrition, maternal depression and improving home safety.
Welcome Baby focuses on the following outcomes:
- Increased breastfeeding
- Appropriate health and developmental care
- Improved connections to supports, resources and services in the community
