Award-winning Care

For 65 years, Northridge Hospital has served the San Fernando Valley's health care needs—offering the highest quality, comprehensive maternity care. Los Angeles Newsweek, in partnership with The Leapfrog Group, voted us as one of the "Best Maternity Hospitals" in 2020, while Healthgrades recognized us a Five-Star Recipient for Maternity Care for 7 Years in a Row.

And when it comes to caring for your new baby once they’re here, Los Angeles Daily News readers voted us "Best Pediatric Care.”

About Our Birth Suites

At Northridge Hospital, we have an entire floor dedicated solely to the birthing experience. Our maternity suites are beautifully furnished and decorated for a “homelike” feel with soft colors, wood floors and coordinated bedding to offer a comfortable, yet highly functional and nurturing room for your stay.

Although our staff is always present, the rooms provide a homelike atmosphere with medical equipment stored out of sight in the room’s custom wood cabinetry.

The Labor-Delivery-Recovery (LDR) suites allow you to remain in one room during all phases of your labor and delivery.

At Northridge Hospital, your baby is never out of sight. Baby will be rooming-in with you from birth to discharge.

Fully equipped for cesarean section deliveries, the surgical room is located on the unit, giving you the comfort of knowing there is immediate access if this should become necessary.

Birthing Options

A birth plan is a written document that outlines your preferences for labor and birth. Whether you have just an idea of what you want your birth plan to look like, or you’ve got it all planned out, Dignity Health can help make your labor and delivery experience the best it can be.

Most people use the term natural childbirth to refer to the process of going through labor and birth without the use of pain medication or other medical interventions. There are a variety of reasons why a woman would choose to pursue a natural childbirth.

A vaginal birth is one in which the baby passes through the birth canal, or vagina. It is the usual, natural birth process, and babies are typically delivered vaginally unless your doctor finds a medical reason for delivery by Cesarean section (C-section) instead.

A cesarean birth is surgery to deliver a baby through incisions in the mother’s abdomen and womb. At Dignity Health, a cesarean birth is considered when your doctor feels it is the safest delivery option for the mother, the baby, or both.
