Having a baby changes your life in any number of ways. You've heard about the advantages of breast-feeding and want to know more. This class can help answer those questions.
This three–hour class is recommended if you are considering breast–feeding your baby. Included in the breast–feeding portion of this class is a discussion of the advantages of breast–feeding, anatomy of the breast and how breast milk is produced, proper positioning of the infant while nursing, preparation for breast–feeding, challenges and common concerns of breast–feeding if you go back to work.
The newborn portion of the class will give you the opportunity to practice diapering, bathing and dressing your newborn on life–like dolls. Infant safety and normal growth and development will also be discussed.
This class meets on Wednesdays from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. in the Baby & Family Center. There is a $10 fee.
There are times when natural childbirth is not an option. The OB-GYN specialists at St. Bernardine Medical Center are here to help.
This two-hour program is for those planning a Caesarean section delivery. It includes information surrounding reasons for C-sections, common preoperative procedures, routines in surgery, medications used, postoperative care and a video on Caesarean deliveries.
If a support person wishes to be present during the delivery, they must obtain approval from the physician and attend this class.

You're having a baby again, and you feel as if you need a bit of a refresher course to reintroduce yourself to Lamaze techniques and other newborn topics.
This condensed two-class series is for those who have previously attended the Prepared Childbirth four-class series.

Plan now to learn how to properly administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to your child in an emergency. It's a skill every parent should have, and it could be a life-saver.

Having a baby is an exciting time, with many important decisions and preparations to be made. To help parents feel confident as you embark on your journey into parenthood, St. Bernardine Medical Center’s Baby & Family Center offers Maternity Teas and Tours.
Join us to learn more about delivering your baby at St. Bernardine Medical Center. This program includes a tour of the labor and delivery and postpartum units, as well as an opportunity to hear from hospital staff during a complimentary dinner. Moms: Feel free to bring one guest.
Meets the 1st Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. in the hospital lobby.
Important: EDC-Due date and your physician's name are required. Please note that children cannot attend a Maternity Tea and Tour class.

This class is offered free to the community.
The Prepared Childbirth Method is a physical and psychological preparation for childbirth that addresses Lamaze techniques, breast-feeding and newborn topics.
Classes include anatomy and physiology of labor, breathing techniques, relaxation and pushing techniques, plus discussions regarding fetal monitoring and medications.
Meets Mondays or Wednesdays, from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m., at the Baby & Family Center. This is a four-week class.
