Pregnancy & Parenting Classes and Support Groups

At St. Bernardine Medical Center, we help you on your journey through pregnancy into the adventure of parenthood by providing a variety of offerings to educate and support you every step of the way. Find out when you can join us, below.

COVID-19 Guidelines

To attend a class or support group at the Baby and Family Center at St. Bernardine Medical Center, you will be asked health-related screening questions prior to class. Please do not attend the class if you are experiencing fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.

We also offer the My Baby App which guides you through pregnancy milestones, helps you identify symptoms and issues, and connects you with services like nurse support. Download My Baby App for iPhone or Android. 

Pre-admission form

In order to make your birthing process easier, you can submit this form to the Admitting Department prior to your labor so your paperwork will be complete and you can concentrate your efforts on a safe and healthy delivery. If you submit this ahead of time, all you will need to do at the time of admission is show your identification and medical insurance cards. Download the form here.



To help prepare you for delivery and parenthood and to support you throughout your journey, we offer classes that will inform and guide you as well as support groups that will mentor you and provide community in this transition in life. 


Embracing Motherhood
Our group offers new mothers free support in a welcoming environment by sharing struggles and triumphs with anxiety, depression, or sadness.

No Fee: Complimentary to new mothers

When: First & Third Wednesday (12 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.)

Infant and Child CPR
Parents can learn the life saving skills of Infant CPR and be prepared to respond during the first few minutes of a life threatening emergency. 

Fee: $10 per couple

When: Wednesdays (6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.)

Prepared Childbirth Class Series with Breastfeeding Class
This 3-week course is offered once a month on Wednesday nights. In this series of classes we offer the following prenatal education: Phases and Stages of Labor, Cesarean Sections, After Birth Care, Medications during labor, Breastfeeding and Newborn Care. 

The final class in this series is our Breastfeeding Class which can be taken by itself, without the other two classes in the series. This is a one time class for the expectant mom to learn basic breastfeeding education to better prepare her and her partner on early breastfeeding, benefits and risks of not breastfeeding, proper positioning and latch and breast care. 

Fee: Varies based on class ($10 - $20 per couple)

Maternity Tea & Tour 
This is a presentation and tour where you will hear about our hospital’s medical staff as well as visit the labor & delivery area, mother/baby unit, and the NICU. You will also receive information regarding the hospital's visitor policy, parking information and pre-admit information. 

No Fee: Complimentary

When: First Tuesday of each month (6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.)

Support Groups

Embracing Motherhood, Perinatal Support Group
While pregnant we are often taught to think of and care for the expecting baby, but too often we forget to care for ourselves. Join our support group designed to assist mothers and mothers-to-be needing mental and emotional support during pregnancy and postpartum.

No Fee: Complimentary

Breastfeeding Center
Our lactation consultants help you to make breastfeeding a positive experience with one-on-one consultations.

No Fee: Complimentary; appointment required
