The Foundation 21 Society offers congratulations to the 2016 Hospital Family Campaign and the 664 St. Mary Medical Center employees whose generous donations will support vital programs and services at the hospital, including the areas of greatest need at the Low Vision Center, the Bazzeni Wellness Center and our healthcare access program, Families in Good Health.
The Hospital Family Campaign set a new record for St. Mary, both in revenue generated and employee participation having exceeded 60%, a true testament to the devotion and kindness of the hospital’s employees. “We are grateful to our employees who provide exceptional patient care with humankindness while also making charitable contributions to further the healing mission of St. Mary,” said President Joel Yuhas.
The Campaign, co-chaired by Pam Fair, Senior Director of Critical Care and Emergency Room, and Ardel Avelino, Associate Hospital Administrator, was comprised of 85 team captains representing various departments throughout St. Mary. The hospital is especially grateful to the 160 employees who joined the Foundation 21 Society (donors of $500 or more) and 49 Champion Leaders (donors of $1,000 or more), far outweighing the previous participation of 13 Champion Leaders.
St. Mary Medical Center is blessed to have employees who continue to set the shining standard of compassionate, quality health care within our community. As a not-for-profit institution, St. Mary relies on charitable donations from community friends, private foundations, grateful patients, physicians and other supporters who want to ensure expert care and comprehensive services are available to the communities we serve. “Over the years, St. Mary employees have raised millions of dollars in support of crucial programs and services. Donations from employees directly impact patient care while demonstrating that charitable support of St. Mary starts with our own employees,” Foundation President Drew Gagner.
Founded in 1923 by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, Dignity Health - St. Mary Medical Center is a highly-regarded 389-bed, acute care, nonprofit hospital that offers a full range of inpatient, outpatient and related health and wellness services to the greater Long Beach area. St. Mary is committed to providing a unique balance of high-quality, compassionate care that brings both healing and humanity to the body, mind and spirit of our patients. We deliver care to the sick while providing direct services to the underserved and advocate on their behalf.
