Our private rooms include a television, a private bathroom and a sleeping chair for your labor and delivery partner.
Dignity Health St. Mary Medical Center is the Baby-Friendly® hospital in the Greater Long Beach Area. What this means for you and your new child is the hospital with "the best possible breastfeeding support for mother and infant in the maternity setting, ensuring high quality in this critical area of mother/baby care," according to Trish MacEnroe, Executive Director of Baby-Friendly® USA.
To receive this designation, St. Mary undertook a rigorous four-year path of staff education and training. But it now enables us to provide optimal breastfeeding and family support – the healthiest start to life together for mother, baby and the entire family. It includes, for instance, immediate bonding between infant and family, never separating the child from the parents at any time, as well as Lactation Educator visits to every patient on the floor after delivery.
For additional piece of mind during your stay with us:
We have fully equipped suites near our private labor suites. If you need to deliver your baby by Caesarean section, that option is immediately available.
For complicated or premature deliveries, we also have a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit on the Labor & Delivery floor.
