Faculty-Supported Research Opportunities
During your emergency medicine residency with Creighton University East Valley Arizona, you will cultivate your knowledge and expertise as a clinician through research and scholarship opportunities.
A Program Built to Support Quality Research
Our emergency medicine program is fortunate to have a dedicated group of research assistants in the ED and a local IRB team to review local research projects. We are actively cultivating research and QI projects in collaboration with other specialties including trauma, palliative care, critical care, and cardiology. Our faculty are dedicated to helping residents complete their required research and QI projects, and we host an annual research day to highlight and celebrate these projects.
Ample Opportunities for Research
Creighton University East Valley Arizona supports more than 74 ongoing research trials. As a resident, you will have opportunities to join ongoing research and QI projects, or develop your own research supported by your mentor, advisor, and other faculty.
Robust Research and EBM Education
Our program provides mentorship and guidance to learn the process of scholarly inquiry and acquisition of evidence-based medicine principles. We have a bimonthly journal club and a robust evidence-based medicine curriculum to ensure proficiency in how to interpret the medical literature. During our annual "Shark Tank" event, residents will pitch their projects and obtain feedback from our faculty and research team. An on-site IRB allows for more direct exposure to the IRB process, as well as ease of project submission. Opportunities are available for residents to travel to present posters and abstracts at a regional or national conferences, or participate in national academic competitions (such as the CPC competition).
