Dignity Health’s San Francisco Hospitals Join San Francisco Health Plan

San Francisco Health Plan, is an NCQA Accredited Medi-Cal health plan providing affordable health coverage to over 140,000 low and moderate-income families residing in San Francisco.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (October 11, 2018) – Dignity Health Saint Francis Memorial Hospital and Dignity Health St. Mary’s Medical Center have joined the San Francisco Health Plan (SFHP) provider network as of Oct. 1, 2018. 

“Our two entities share complementary missions. We both strive to provide quality, affordable health care to the underserved while also improving health outcomes in our community,” said Todd Strumwasser, MD, senior vice president of operations for Dignity Health Bay Area. “This partnership is a natural fit for our hospitals and we are pleased to welcome San Francisco Health Plan members.”

“Expanding our network to include Dignity Health is a significant milestone for SFHP as it marks the first time in our 22 year history that SFHP is contracted with all the hospitals in San Francisco,” said John F. Grgurina, Jr., CEO of San Francisco Health Plan. “This addition gives our members peace of mind knowing that SFHP, our services, and our coverage are growing to match the changing demand in health care.” 

Saint Francis Memorial Hospital and St. Mary’s Medical Center provide comprehensive, high-quality care, and many services not available elsewhere in the City. Services include 24/7 emergency care, orthopedic surgery, minimally invasive surgery, CyberKnife, the city’s only hospital-based hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and the largest burn unit in northern California. Through an affiliation with UCSF Health, Saint Francis and St. Mary’s combine the very best of academic medicine and community-based care. 

SFHP members need to be referred to Dignity Health’s San Francisco Hospitals by their Primary Care Provider for health care services. SFHP members can call SFHP Customer Service at (800) 288-5555, Monday through Friday 8:30am – 5:30pm for questions or concerns.
