Dr. Abou DarghamGreetings and welcome to St. Joseph’s Family Medicine Residency Program.

We are delighted that you are interested in our Family Medicine Residency Program. The residency program is dedicated to training well-rounded, trustworthy, and culturally competent Family Medicine physicians who will graduate ready to care for a culturally diverse community deserving of quality health care.

Our curriculum is designed to provide an excellent ambulatory clinical experience in adult, pediatric, geriatric, prenatal and behavioral care at Community Medical Centers, Channel Clinic. Residents in this clinical setting will also gain experience with caring for and counseling substance use disorder patients, dental evaluations, screening at community schools through the Dental Transformation Initiative Program, and also exposure to the appropriate evaluation and care of the homeless population through Care Link, the Health Care for  Homeless Program at  Gleason House, Community Medical Center’s homeless clinic. All inpatient rotations are designed to provide opportunities for residents to enhance their clinical judgment and critical thinking skills. Our Graduate Medical Education Department is committed to providing excellent training in project development, research, presentation and publication. Point of Care Ultrasound, Simulation, and Global Health training are also highlights of our program.

Residents training in our program are encouraged to achieve their personal best through a culture of excellence, evidence-based learning, and the art of medicine. Through a comprehensive interactive didactic program our residents will gain the knowledge and skills needed to achieve academic and clinical excellence. Team-based care is emphasized in both the outpatient and inpatient clinical settings which is essential for excellent, patient focused care.

There is no greater experience in education than to see a resident physician grow and mature into an amazing Family Medicine physician who is dedicated and excited about caring for a community that deserves the best our physicians have to offer. I invite each and every one of you to consider our program that provides a supportive educational environment where excellence is not only desired but required.
