Surgical Options

The da Vinci Surgical System® is a sophisticated robotic platform designed to expand your surgeon’s capabilities and offer a minimally invasive option for major surgery.

Many Major Surgeries can be Performed Robotically

The da Vinci Surgical System® is a sophisticated robotic platform used to treat complex conditions ranging from cancer to uterine prolapse to nerve-sparing prostatectomies. The majority of women’s gynecological surgeries can be performed using da Vinci, as can most urological, many gastroenterology and general surgeries, and some cardiac procedures.

  • General Surgery - Our experienced robotic surgeons specialize in highly complex surgeries in bariatric surgery and oncology. Surgical weight loss patients are able to obtain robotic-assisted gastric bypass surgery and gastric sleeve. For cancer care patients with colon cancer, our surgeons are able to perform robotic-assisted colon removal through a few incisions safely and effectively.
  • Gynecology - Our gyn surgeons perform minimally invasive hysterectomy, which allows our patients to experience less pain and blood loss than traditional surgery.
  • Urologic Surgery - Our fellowship trained urologic robotic surgeons perform the most complex robotic surgeries such as removal of bladder, kidney sparing removal of kidney tumor, removal of prostate for cancer and for massively enlarged prostates, as well as reconstructive surgeries such as robotic sacrocolpopexy and pyeloplasty.

Robot-assisted Surgery is Usually Covered by Insurance

This surgery is categorized as robot-assisted minimally invasive surgery, so any insurance that covers minimally invasive surgery generally covers da Vinci surgery.

Talk With Your Doctor to Make the Best Decision for You

Before you decide on surgery, discuss your options with your doctor to understand potential benefits and risks. Every patient surgical experience varies, but the benefits many patients experience with minimally invasive robotic surgery include a shorter hospital stay, less pain, less risk of infection, less blood loss, less scarring, faster recovery and a quicker return to normal daily activities. It’s worth a close review with your doctor to see if da Vinci surgery is right for you.
