The CARE Center at Dignity Health - St. Mary Medical Center is a designated Los Angeles County PrEP Center of Excellence.
HIV prevention takes preparation like PrEP and PEP, regardless of ability to pay. Connect with a patient navigator today by calling 562.624.4999.
About PrEP
According to the Centers for Disease Control (cdc.gov/hiv), there is no cure for HIV/AIDS. However, PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) is a once-daily pill that may prevent HIV infection from sexual contact by up to 99% (cdc.gov/hiv/risk/prep). While PrEP helps to protect against HIV, using condoms for sexual encounters may help to protect against other STIs.
PEP Services
Visit the CARE Clinic Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm. For after-hours exposure concerns, go to the emergency room. The CARE Center also offers PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis) to individuals who have recently had a potential HIV exposure in the past three days. PEP must be taken every day for 28 days to prevent HIV (cdc.gov/hiv/risk/pep).
