Dignity Health East Valley hospitals nationally recognized for commitment to patient safety and quality

(Gilbert, Ariz. – May 13, 2026) — Dignity Health Chandler Regional and Mercy Gilbert Medical Center and Arizona General Hospital - Mesa have been nationally recognized for its dedication and commitment to patient safety and quality from The Leapfrog Group and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in its latest rankings.

The three hospitals earned “A” ratings by The Leapfrog Group in the Spring 2026 survey. The independent national nonprofit organization evaluates hospitals on 22 national performance measures and recognizes hospitals that excel in protecting patients from harm. For Mercy Gilbert, this achievement marks the sixth consecutive bi-annual survey earning an “A” grade, solidifying its consistent commitment to safety excellence.  

Additionally, Mercy Gilbert and Arizona General Hospital - Mesa earned a five star rating by CMS, and Chandler Regional was recognized with a four-star rating. These CMS ratings place all three Dignity Health East Valley hospitals among the highest-performing health care providers nationally, highlighting the team’s comprehensive quality and patient experience.

These recognitions come on the heels of Chandler Regional being named a Top Teaching Hospital by The Leapfrog Group in fall 2025. Chandler Regional is one of the local teaching hospitals for graduate medical education students through the Creighton  University East Valley Arizona which is committed to shaping the future of health care in the East Valley.
