Nicholas Testa, MD, Appointed Chief Physician Executive for Newly-formed Southwest Division of CommonSpirit Health

Los Angeles, CA. May 30, 2019— Effective June 3, Dr. Nicholas Testa, MD, will be assuming the role of Chief Physician Executive (CPE) for the newly-formed Southwest Division of CommonSpirit Health. Dr. Testa will oversee the delivery of care at nine acute care hospitals in Southern California and Nevada.

Dr. Testa has been serving as the CPE for Dignity Health Southern California since January 2017. During his tenure, he has successfully recruited new clinical leadership, led initiatives aimed at improving patient experience, and rolled out an area-wide High Reliability Organization (HRO) program, focused on enhancing patient safety. 

“I’m honored to have been chosen to oversee the clinical care of the newly-formed Southwest Division,” states Dr. Testa. “I look forward to expanding our safety efforts and ensuring our patients receive the highest level of care in the Nevada area, while continuing to improve the patient experience across all of our facilities.”

As a previous associate professor of clinical emergency medicine at the USC Keck School of Medicine Dr. Testa has a strong commitment to medical education and continues to teach locally and nationally on the topics of patient safety, quality improvement, and physician leadership. Prior to his current position, Dr. Testa held the role of chief medical officer at Providence – St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, CA and before that served as associate medical director for LAC+USC Medical Center. 

Dr. Testa completed his emergency medicine residency training in 2005 at LAC+USC Medical Center and his transitional internship in 2002 at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Originally from New York City, Dr. Testa earned his medical degree at New York Medical College and attended Middlebury College for his undergraduate training.
