Siena Hospital Preemies Enjoy ‘NICU Boo Bash’

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit hosts costume party so hospital’s littlest guests can enjoy their first Halloween.

LAS VEGAS, October 27, 2023 – Doctors, nurses and staff in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Dignity Health-St. Rose Dominican’s Siena Hospital helped new parents get into the Halloween spirit this week by hosting a costume party for the hospital’s littlest patients.

Premature babies and other newborns with serious health issues must sometimes spend weeks or months in the hospital under the watchful care of the health care providers in the Siena NICU. Parents who spend long hours on the unit with their new babies sometimes miss out on special experiences of their child’s first year, like a first Halloween.

The Siena NICU team held this special reception so parents could select costumes and dress their newborns for their first Halloween as a family. Some babies dressed up in costumes brought by their parents. Others were decked out in hand-crafted outfits that were donated or provided by the hospital.
