Compassionate pediatric services

Understanding the unique health care needs of children

Pediatrics in Las Vegas and Henderson, NV

Being in the hospital can be scary for adults and kids alike. To help our little patients feel more comfortable, we've equipped our pediatrics unit with colorful, child-friendly decor, and games and toys for kids to use when they're feeling better. Parents can rest assured knowing their children are being cared for by highly qualified and compassionate pediatricians and staff.

Pediatric Unit & Pediatric ICU

Our 14-bed pediatric unit includes six Pediatric Intensive Care Rooms and offers a child-friendly environment with caring, experienced health care professionals who are specially certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Our pediatric nurses work as a team with the board certified physicians, Child Life Specialists, and the parents to provide education and support, ensuring our smallest patients receive special care.

We encourage a parent to stay in the child's room during the night. For the safety of our young patients, we limit visitors to age 16 and older.

Children's emergency room

The Children's Emergency Room at the Siena Campus in Henderson, Nevada, is the only hospital ER in the southeast part of the valley that caters specifically to children.

Children's Miracle Network Hospitals

St. Rose Dominican is the only Children's Miracle Network hospital in the region. The St. Rose Dominican collaboration with Children's Miracle Network began in January 2005. Since that time, the partnership has helped provide new pediatric equipment for the hospital, charity care for patients, and health education for children. 100 percent of every dollar raised in southern Nevada goes directly to the St. Rose Dominican NICU and pediatric centers.

Child Life Specialists

When a child is hospitalized, they experience a variety of stressful events that can be overwhelming, curbing their natural ability to cope and heal. As with adults, hospital stays can lead children to feelings of fear, confusion, loss of control and isolation ... having negative effects on a child’s physical and emotional health.

Child Life Specialists are trained professionals who help children cope with the stress and uncertainty of illness, injury, disability and hospitalization.

Our Child Life Specialists goals are to:

  • Prepare children for medical procedures or treatment
  • Reduce the stress of hospitalization
  • Provide support to patients and their families
  • Promote normal growth and development

These goals are accomplished through the use of therapeutic play and developmentally-appropriate activities for patients; educating and preparing children for medical procedures; and serving as a resource for parents and other professionals regarding child development and hospitalization issues.

We offer a wide variety of pediatric health care services right here so fewer families have to travel long distances to reach children’s hospitals outside of the area.

Our Child Life Specialists can be reached at (702) 616-5232 Monday - Thursday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. if you have questions or need information.
