What to Expect from the Acute Rehabilitation Unit at Dignity Health

Our  services offer individualized programs based on your needs, implemented by expert therapists. The number of services and the length of services will vary, and services may change as your physical and mental abilities improve.

Using the latest methods, our rehab program commonly offers the following:

  • Physical therapy, including exercises to improve strength, movement, and fitness, soft tissue massage, therapeutic modalities, and assessment of durable medical equipment needs.
  • Occupational therapy, including regaining control of arms and hands, relearning daily activities, and using equipment to function independently.
  • Speech-language therapy, including cognitive-communication therapy and swallowing therapy to improve thinking, memory, speaking, communication, reading, and writing.
  • Adaptive equipment and assistive devices, including wheelchairs, orthotics (shoe inserts), braces, prostheses, and communication devices.
  • Hand therapy, including strengthening and range-of-motion exercises and splinting.
  • Pain management, including a multimodal approach, using a combination of medications, injections, procedures, therapies and counseling in the treatment and management of chronic pain.
  • Weekly team conference: Interdisciplinary team conferences once a week to revisit treatment plans and address goals of care.

  • Care Coordination and Social Work services -  Inpatient physicians can track your progress into the Inpatient Rehabilitation setting with a designated social worker working closely to ensure a confident disposition.
