Resources to empower your research.

During your family medicine residency at Dignity Health East Valley, research projects are backed by faculty support and a collaborative review process that will expand your knowledge and expertise as a clinician. Through a minimum of two scholarly activity (SA) projects, you will explore and expand research topics of particular interest to you.

The structure and support for quality research.

Your scholarly activity work – one a quality improvement project (QI) and the other your choice of research – will be supported by your mentor, advisor, and other faculty. This is accomplished by designating one half-day per week, during your second-year and third-year blocks, to devote to your research. Faculty members are there to help if you need direction on a resource or a contact.

Research “Shark Tank.”

Each fall, our family medicine residency program will host a research “Shark Tank.” This event will showcase the presentations of all residents’ “Shark Tank” projects and encourage collaboration and feedback among both residents and faculty.

Spring research presentation days.

Each spring, residents and faculty will present results of QI and other research projects. This event is a springboard to state and national research presentation opportunities, as well as published research articles.
