St. Rose Dominican Graduate Medical Education

Welcome from the Designated Institutional Official

Welcome to Dignity Health St. Rose Dominican Graduate Medical Education. We thank you for considering us for your residency training. We are glad you are visiting our site and invite you to look further into our pages to learn what we have to offer. Dignity Health is part of CommonSpirit Health, one of the largest non-profit, faith based health care systems in the U.S. CommonSpirit Health trains over 2,000 residents and fellows in over 90 programs across the nation.

Graduate Medical Education at St Rose Dominican Hospitals was started to address the crucial need for physicians locally in the Southern Nevada community and the state as a whole. Statistics continue to demonstrate the need for more graduating resident physicians in Nevada. Our state remains one of the lowest ranking for the number of active physicians per 100,000 population. As our population continues to grow, so does the ever-increasing need for physicians.

The foundation of our GME program is based on our mission, vision and values.

Our mission: At Dignity Health and CommonSpirit Health, we make the healing presence of God known in our world by improving the health of the people we serve, especially those who are vulnerable, while we advance social justice for all. As the only non-profit, faith based hospital system in southern Nevada, we strive to train our residents to provide compassionate, evidence based, high quality care to patients, while becoming leaders in the communities they serve.

Our vision: A healthier future for all -inspired by faith, driven by innovation and powered by our humanity. y We are not just educating residents, we are looking to train the physicians we need for tomorrow’s health care environment. As technology continues to disrupt the healthcare environment, our residents must learn in an innovative clinical environment while leading with humankindness.

Our values: Compassion, inclusion, integrity, excellence and collaboration. Our goal is to develop trainees who desire excellence, lead in medicine and community, advocate for the disenfranchised, and lead with humankindness..

We welcome diverse applicants who seek academic excellence and commitment to community service. Southern Nevada offers a socioeconomically diverse and culturally vibrant community that presents with challenging, complex healthcare needs. Those very social determinants of health lead to many underlying health disparities. It is for this vulnerable population in our community that we seek to recruit, train, and retain a diverse physician workforce.

Our faculty, staff, and leadership are dedicated to making your experience at Dignity Health St. Rose Dominican, not only rewarding, but one that encourages you to stay awhile and fully enjoy the wealth of professional opportunities, lifestyles, arts and culture, sports, entertainment and neighborhoods that our community has to offer.

Sincerely,

Kimberly Bates, MD, MACP, FAAP
