Nature's Perfect Food

Deciding to breastfeed is one of the most important decisions you will make as an expectant mother. Breast milk provides an excellent source of nutrition for your baby with the right balance of fat, protein and vitamins. Babies receive antibodies from their mothers' milk and have a higher resistance to infection, and it may decrease their chance of developing allergies or other diseases such as diabetes, multiple sclerosis and heart disease later in life. Breastfeeding offers health benefits to mothers as well—they're less likely to develop osteoporosis and have a lower risk of breast, uterine and ovarian cancer.

Breastfeeding Support Services

Breastfeeding is one of the most important things you can do for your baby.  Our team of certified Lactation Consultants is here to provide you with the support you need to be successful while you are in the hospital.

When to seek breastfeeding support services:

  • For treatment of sore nipples or breasts
  • Concern about your baby's output (urine and stools)
  • Ineffective positioning, latch-on and engorgement
  • If your baby is not feeding 8 to 12 times in 24 hours
  • If your baby is sleeping on the breast, not sucking well and seems hungry each time you take him/her off
  • Any questions or concerns about breastfeeding

Breastfeeding is a learning process for both you and your baby—it takes time and patience. Our consultants host a free weekly breastfeeding support group where new and experienced moms meet to ask questions and share the challenges and joys of breastfeeding.
