NOTICE: Due to an increase in COVID-19 cases, Phoenix Children’s Hospital at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center has been temporarily moved to the main Phoenix Children’s Hospital location in downtown Phoenix. Please make a note of this change. We will update this page when services resume at Mercy Gilbert.
Phoenix Children’s Hospital at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center offers private patient rooms and around-the-clock coverage by pediatric-trained physicians and nurses for children requiring inpatient care. Every clinician on the team is specially skilled in pediatric medicine. Like all programs at Phoenix Children’s, this unit is 100 percent for children.
Children will be admitted to the unit by:
- Direct admission by a primary care physician
- Transfer from the Mercy Gilbert emergency department
- Transfer from an outside urgent care or emergency department
Patients with more complex conditions or requiring advanced care will have direct access to Phoenix Children’s full array of dedicated subspecialists and can be seamlessly transferred to their main campus if needed.
The opening of the unit greatly enhances East Valley pediatric inpatient care and provides families and area physicians much-needed access to the breadth and depth of services offered only at Phoenix Children’s. It adds to the presence Arizona’s largest children’s hospital already has in the region, which includes Phoenix Children’s - East Valley Center, which offers specialty, urgent care and outpatient surgery, and a Phoenix Children’s Medical Group specialty care center on the Mercy Gilbert campus.
