Diversity and Inclusion Graduate Medical Education
At Dignity Health, Methodist Hospital of Sacramento, we value the diverse talents and backgrounds that make each of our residents unique.
Diversity and Inclusion are Top Priorities
The U.S. News and World Report has labeled our community as having the most integrated diversity of any in the country. It is in this setting that our hospital system and our residents care for the most vulnerable. We train Family Medicine Physicians focused on caring for the underserved by:
- Preparing our residents for interaction with diverse individuals
- Fostering an inclusive work environment
- Recruiting and retaining a diverse group of residents for our Family Medicine Program.
In the most recent survey by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), 100% of our resident respondents indicated the program fosters an inclusive environment. We are also proud that Dignity Health has been Newsweek's "America's Greatest Workplaces 2024 for Diversity" for the second year in a row.
Promoting Health Equity
We define diversity as the traits and characteristics that make people unique, while inclusion refers to the behaviors and social norms that ensure people feel welcome. Our shared Dignity Health values of integrity and compassion guide us through your training experience.
We are committed to celebrating and honoring the ways our residents and patients differ from each other. We continuously evaluate and assess opportunities, as well as barriers to ensure we advance fair and equitable treatment for all.
